The reading demographic of Jezebel must have really changed.
When posting a list of retail worker gripes gets comments like:
- If you hate customer service so much, DON’T DO IT.
- Do us all a favor, and don’t work retail if…
“If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s people working retail who have this smug attitude toward their customers. “
AAAAAGGGGHHHHH. It’s not a smug attitude; it’s the employee having interacted with so many customers to the point that they become pretty proficient at reading them.
These people are just like the assholes who complain about tipping standards. My theory is that many moons ago, people had live-in servants. Now since that practice has become more uncommon, they instead look for the “service” experience in the PUBLIC sectors of retail and in foodservice, and get upset when their entitlement hits them in the ass.
